Artist statement.

I work through installation art to express the flux and vulnerability of life, drawing on a professional background in health and social care.

Because installation art is three dimensional it allows the viewer to walk around and interact more emotionally with the work and its meaning.  The materials I choose are mainly textile, paper and recycled objects combined with imagery, light and projections, large and small, that evoke the fragility of experience of different groups.

I am also interested in art as research, both as a method and as a means of communicating findings more widely, and currently I am working with the Cluster for Refugee Education at the University of Winchester to represent at art exhibitions their research findings on the experiences of young refugees in education.

Previous work has portrayed the body communicating with the social environment.

Following a fine art degree at Central St Martins and an MA in London, I have exhibited in London and the South East for 15 years.  I am now based in Winchester, where I have my studio at Jewry Street Studios.
